CATHOLIC COLLEGES SCHEDULED TO PRESENT VAGINA MONOLOGUES IN 2003

See also "V-Monologues" on Catholic campuses: Why won't they just say NO?
From the Pentecost 2002 issue of Voices:

Again this year, the Vagina Monologues' obscene insult to women and womanhood is scheduled to be presented on Catholic college campuses -- sad to say, many more of them than last year -- on or near Valentine's Day. We'd like to dismiss this repeated verbal assault passing itself off as cutting-edge theater simply as immature (it is), obnoxious (check) and tiresome (it's that, too). But like a women who is the victim of a chronically abusive husband, it's not that we're exactly surprised at getting beat-up again -- but it still hurts just the same. We hope this year some of our Catholic campus presidents and leaders can be persuaded to stop this beating up on women. Please!

The Cardinal Newman Society has provided a list of Catholic institutions of higher learning that plan to host this travesty. (The list is from the V-Day web site, www.v-day.org). We encourage our readers to write to our Catholic college and university leaders -- especially to institutions in your region.

We are most grateful to the Cardinal Newman Society (e-mail for the Cardinal Newman Society ) for making this list available. (207 Park Ave., Ste. B-2, Falls Church, VA 22046. Ph: (703) 536-9585)

Because of continuing updates we ask that you go directly to the Cardinal Newman Society website (http://www.cardinalnewmansociety.org) for the listing. The good news is that some schools have dropped the production.
