Faith & Family Award (1986-1999)

The Faith & Family Award was presented to Catholic leaders in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the Catholic faith and to the family.

Recipients

1986 - Ann O'Donnell (+ 1987) - St. Louis pro-life leader; a founding member of Women for Faith & Family.

1988 - The Rev. Msgr. George A. Kelly (+ 2004) - Founding director of Fellowship of Catholic Scholars; emeritus St. John's University, New York.

1989 - John Joseph Cardinal Carberry (+ 1997) - Archbishop of St. Louis, 1968-1979.

1990 - Edouard Cardinal Gagnon (+ 2007) - First president of the Holy See's Pontifical Council on the Family

1991 - Mother Angelica - Eternal Word Television Network, Birmingham, Alabama

1992 - All Fathers

1993 - Kenneth D. & Margaret Whitehead - Mr. Whitehead is former Assistant Secretary for Post-secondary Education in the US Department of Education, author and translator. Mrs. Whitehead is a specialist in religious education.

1994 - Alfonso Cardinal Lopez Trujillo (+ 2008)- President, Pontifical Council on the Family

1995 - Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger (Pope Benedict XVI - 2005) Prefect, Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith

1996 - The Rev. James A. Viall - Pastor St. Rose's Parish, Cleveland 1974-2002

1997 - The Most Rev. Fabian Bruskewitz - Bishop of Lincoln, 1992 -

1998 - Eleanor Schlafly and Anne Stewart Connell (+ 2003) -- Miss Schlafly, of St. Louis, is founder and president of the Cardinal Mindzenty Foundation;
Mrs. Connell, (+2003) also of St. Louis, was a founding member of Women for Faith & Family and long-time pro-life leader.

1999 - Donna Steichen - Author and lecturer.
