The Honorable Jeb Bush
Governor of Florida
Fax: 850 487 0801

Dear Governor Bush,

On behalf of Women for Faith & Family, representing about 50,000, we thank you for your past interest and action in the case of Terri Schindler Schiavo, and of her parents' effort to obtain guardianship from her husband, Michael Schiavo, in order to care for her.

We now implore you to intervene in whatever way you can to prevent her death from starvation and dehydration. Today, as you know, her feeding tube is being removed in order to cause her death.

With you, Governor Bush, we are convinced that Terri is not in the so-called "persistent vegetative state". She is obviously responsive, and, though impaired, capable of meaningful interaction with those who love her and care for her. She is not "terminally ill" or dying, so removal of the feeding tube that sustains her cannot be considered morally permissible. She is entitled to our support and protection.

In our letter of July 21, we noted that Women for Faith & Family has filed "friend of the court" briefs in other similar cases in Missouri, where we are based (Christine Busalacchi and Nancy Cruzan).

Along with thousands of Americans who affirm the right to life as a fundamental right of all human beings, we again ask you to review Terri Schiavo's case and to intercede on her behalf.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Helen Hull Hitchcock, Director
